Sinossi:
Il teenager Darren Shan (Chris Massoglia) e il suo amico Steve (Josh Hutcherson) si trovano ben presto a spezzare una routinaria quotidianità fatta di scuola e sane amicizie quando si imbattono in un 'freak show' ambulante. Ma l'iniziale divertimento di fronte a donne barbute e lupi mannari muta in un qualcosa di diverso non appena si trovano a fronteggiare il vampiro Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly). Una volta resosi conto che Larten non è un vampiro per finzione ma lo è veramente, superato il panico iniziale lo incontra segretamente chiedendogli di diventare il suo assistente. L'amico Darren, che assiste di nascosto all'incontro, può sentire il rifiuto del vampiro della richiesta. Il giorno seguente i due amici fanno ritorno al circo insieme e Steve viene morso dal velenoso ragno di Larten, e quando Darren cheiede a quest'ultimo di soccorrere l'amico, il vampiro accetta a patto che sia lui a diventare il suo assistente. Darren diventa così un giovane vampiro entrando a far parte a sua volta del 'freak show' ambulante, nonché di una guerra millenaria che contrappone i vampiri ai vampanesi, da sempre loro acerrimi rivali.
SYNOPSIS:
Darren Shan (CHRIS MASSOGLIA) was like most kids in his suburban neighborhood. He hung out with his best friend, Steve (JOSH HUTCHERSON), got decent grades and usually stayed out of trouble. But when he and his buddy stumble upon a traveling freak show, things begin to change inside Darren. That’s the exact moment when a vampire named Larten Crepsley (JOHN C. REILLY) offers to turn him into something, well, bloodthirsty. Newly undead, he joins the Cirque Du Freak, a touring sideshow filled with monstrous creatures from a Snake Boy (PATRICK FUGIT) and a Wolfman to the bearded Madame Truska (SALMA HAYEK) and a gigantic barker named Mr. Tall (KEN WATANABE). As Darren flexes his newfound powers in this dark world, he becomes a treasured pawn between the vampires and their deadlier counterparts, the vampaneze. And while trying to survive, one boy will struggle to keep their brewing war from devouring what’s left of his humanity...
