DANIEL (JACOB) RADCLIFFE (Fulham, Londra, 23 luglio 1989 - ).
Dalla tenera eta’ di cinque anni, Dan ha espresso il suo interesse nella recitazione, anche se la sua prima esperienza fu limitata ad interpretare una scimmia in una recita scolastica. (Oggi Dan al pensiero di quella prima interpretazione dice “spero che nessuno trovi mai nessuna fotografia di quello!”). Diventa ufficialmente un attore quasi per puro caso. Aveva completamente dimenticato dell’audizione per la parte in una produzione televisiva dell’Oliver Twist di Charles Dickens – i suoi genitori all’epoca pensavano che non era una buona idea – ma era comunque destinato a fare una piccola apparizione sullo schermo televisivo in un’altra famosa novella di Dickens, questa volta il David Copperfield, recitando al fianco di Maggie Smith e Bob Hoskins. L’annuale dramma televisivo del periodo natalizio trasmesso dalla BBC e’ molto popolare nel Regno Unito e cosi, nel 1999 l’adattamento del classico romanzo fu particolarmente ben recepito. Dan fece seguire alla sua apparizione nel “David Copperfield” una piccola apparizione, che tra l’altro gli consenti’ di consolidare la sua confidenza nel campo della recitazione, nel film “Il sarto di Panama” distribuito nel marzo 2001. Il suo personaggio era Mark Pendel, il figlio di Harry e Louisa Pendel, che erano interpretati rispettivamente da Geoffrey Rush e Jamie Lee Curtis. Mentre veniva girato il film, nel Regno Unito stava iniziando la grande caccia all’interprete per il protagonista di un abbastanza popolare romanzo per ragazzi. Furono la semplicità ed il fascino di Dan che catturano l’occhio esperto di Chris Columbus e David Heyman mentre erano alla ricerca del giovane attore inglese che avrebbe portato sugli schermi cinematografici il protagonista di quello che e’ diventato, senza ombra di dubbio, il piu’ grande successo nella letteratura moderna: il fenomeno Harry Potter. Il regista Chris Columbus aveva visto una registrazione di “David Copperfield” ed aveva tormentato il suo direttore della distribuzione affinché chiamasse questo giovane attore per un’audizione. Ad ogni modo, i genitori di Dan protettivi nei suoi confronti, erano riluttanti nel sottoporre il loro figlio all’estenuante processo delle audizioni solo per vedere le sue speranze schiacciate cosi che rinunciarono a quello che sarebbe stato il ruolo della svolta della sua carriera. Ma la fortuna sorrise a Dan ed una sera in un teatro fu scritta la storia: il produttore David Heyman e lo sceneggiatore Steve Kloves lo videro con i suoi genitori tra il pubblico mentre assistevano alla commedia “Stones in his Pockets”. Heyman conosceva il papa’ di Dan grazie a conoscenze sul lavoro e si presento’ a Dan durante l’intervallo. Trascorse praticamente tutto il secondo atto distratto dall’analizzare la potenzialità di Dan nell’interpretare Harry. La mattina seguente Heyman telefonò ai genitori di Dan per cercare di convincerli a cambiare idea permettendo a Dan di assistere ad un’audizione ed a sua immensa sorpresa scopri’ che avevano gia’ avuto la stessa idea! Concordarono per un incontro informale tra Dan e David Heyman e, una volta rassicurati che sarebbe stato protetto il piu’ possibile dai mezzi di comunicazione e dalla celebrita’ che il ruolo gli avrebbe procurato, accettarono perche’ Dan prendesse parte ad un’audizione. La distribuzione delle parti agli attori Dan, Rupert Grint e Emma Watson nei ruoli principali di, rispettivamente Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley e Hermione Granger fu annunciata nell’agosto 2000. Ma la cosa piu’ importante, l’autrice dei libri J.K. Rowling dette la sua approvazione per la scelta di Dan – quando vide il provino di Dan, dichiaro’ che si senti come “se fossi stata riunita con il mio figlio perduto da sempre” - “Dopo aver visto il provino di Daniel Radcliffe non credo che Chris Columbus avrebbe potuto trovare un Harry migliore … penso che Dan e’ perfetto, e ne sono molto felice”. La produzione di “Harry Potter e la pietra filosofale” inizio’ nel settembre 2000 e l’interesse suscitato per il film, in tutto il mondo, fu unico. Il film fu rilasciato nelle sale cinematografiche in Italia il 25 novembre 2001 ed fu elogiato ampiamente per la sua adattamento cosi fedele al libro di J.K. Rowling, diventando cosi il secondo film per record d’incassi, dietro a “Titanic”. Elogi non furono fatti mancare per la giovane star protagonista (… un meraviglioso Harry… il giovane Radcliffe e’ perfetto come Harry… sembra essere nato per recitare questa parte…) che trovo’ se stesso sulla copertina di praticamente tutti i settimanali di cinema del momento. Seguirono numerosissime apparizioni televisive sia nel Regno Unito che negli U.S.A, ed una folla sempre piu’ numerosi inizio’ a conoscere il ragazzo dietro la cicatrice e forma di saetta. Iniziarono cosi i siti di fan dedicati a Daniel. Insomma era nata una stella. Le riprese del seguito “Harry Potter e la camera dei segreti” inziarono immediatamente, a soli 3 giorni dopo dell’uscita del primo film. Molto spesso descritto come “molto piu’ oscuro, piu’ pauroso.. e molto piu’ divertente” che il primo “La camera dei segreti” fu piu’ un film d’azione e ricevette revisioni positive quando fu distribuito in Italia il 6 dicembre 2002. La storia si ripete ed il film batte ogni record d’incassi ed ora e’ posizionato al 9 posto della classifica generale. Coloro che hanno lavorato con Dan nel film lo hanno generosamente elogiato. Kenneth Branagh espresse la sua gioia nel lavorare con un cast ben equilibrato formato da giovani attori e non. La squadra degli effetti speciali fu impressionata dall’abilita’ di Dan di recitare in maniera convincente anche quando, per necessità di scena, la sua controparte era una palla su un bastone ossia nelle scene che richiedevano Dobby, l’elfo domestico, una creatura creata con il sistema CGI. Dopo il turbinio della promozione negli U.S.A. e Regno Unito, Dan si prese una vacanza dal suo lavoro di attore per il suo debutto come attore teatrale nel novembre del 2002 in un teatro londinese della West End nella commedia “The Play What I Wrote” diretta da Kenneth Branagh. La commedia, che era un tributo alla coppia numero uno della commedia inglese Morecambe e Wise, aveva un ospite a sorpresa ogni sera e l’ospite doveva recitare in alcune scenette comiche. Dan riguardo a questa esperienza dichiarò “E’ stato molto divertente. Non ero mai stato sul palcoscenico prima, ero un po’ intimorito all’inizio ma questo mi ha dato il desiderio di fare molto di piu’ in teatro”. La maggior parte del 2003 fu occupata dalle riprese del film “Harry Potter ed il prigioniero di Azkaban”. In preparazione, il nuovo regista Alfonso Cuaron fece scrivere a Dan, Rupert ed Emma una composizione sul loro personaggio e Dan trovo’ la cosa molto utile. Il terzo film e’stata un’esperienza speciale per Daniel, visto che uno dei suoi idoli, Gary Oldman, fu scelto per recitare il ruolo di Sirius Black, il prigioniero di Azkaban appunto. Come sempre, Dan e gli altri attori ricevettero gli elogi del registra e della produzione per il loro lavoro. “Il prigioniero di Azkaban” fu acclamato dalla critica come il migliore dei film della saga di Harry Potter, anche se piu’ tenebroso dei due precedenti. Prima della distribuzione de “Il prigioniero di Azkaban”, nella primavera del 2004 erano iniziate le riprese del prossimo film “Harry Potter ed il calice di fuoco”. Diretto da Mike Newell (Quattro funerali ed un matrimonio, Mona Lisa Smile) quest’ultimo film prometteva di essere il piu’ eccitante della serie. Siccome “Il calice di fuoco” era un film pieno di azione e emozioni tutte concentrate nell’elaborata competizione chiamata “Torneo Tremaghi” le esigenze di prestazioni fisiche questa volta erano maggiori e piu’ dure. Per una scena che fa parte della seconda prova della competizione, Dan ha effettivamente dovuto imparare ad immergersi e recitare sott’acqua. Durante la battaglia con il drago, li stunts di Daniel includevano una caduta da quasi 20 metri su un terrapieno roccioso. A fianco all’azione, c’era altre opportunità di recitazione per Dan mentre sopporta una lunga disputa con il suo migliore amico, mentre cerca una compagna per il Yule Ball, mentre impara a ballare e affronta la risurrezione del suo acerrimo nemico. Il quarto film della serie di Harry Potter “Harry Potter ed il calice di fuoco” fu distribuito nelle sale italiane il 25 novembre 2005 e fu un altro successo con i giovani attori che sostennero la scena con alcuni dei piu’ importanti attori britannici, incluso Ralph Fiennes e Brendon Gleeson. Il film “Harry Potter ed il calice di fuoco” ha superato di gran lunga il secondo e terzo della serie. Gli ammiratori di tutto il mondo di Harry Potter stanno aspettando con trepidazione il primo bacio sullo schermo di Harry Potter che avverra’ nel quinto film della saga “Harry Potter e l’ordine della fenice” diretto da David Yates, la cui data di distribuzione e’ fissata per il 13 luglio 2007 in tutto il mondo. Dan ha sorpreso e deliziato i suoi ammiratori accettando di recitare, tra una ripresa l’atra dei film di Potter, nell’adattamento cinematografico del romanzo di Michael Noona, “December Boys” diretto da Ron Hardy (“The Sullivans”). Dan interpreta il ruolo dei uno dei quattro orfani nell’Australia intorno al 1960, che gareggiano per l’attenzione di una possibile famiglia adottiva. L’interesse per il romanzo e per il film e’ esplosa si da quando Dan ha firmato per il ruolo, il suo primo al di fuori della serie di Harry Potter fino dal 2001. il film e’ stato interamente girato in Australia tra il novembre 2005 ed il gennaio 2006 per evitare conflitti con le riprese del “L’ordine della fenice” che sono iniziate subito dopo. “December Boys” e’ stato distribuito a settembre 2007 negli U.S.A. Regno Unito ed Australia. Dan ha dichiarato che la sua vita e’ cambiata in maniera sorprendente da quando ha deciso di recitare il ruolo del mago piu’ famoso del mondo. Quando viene chiesto a Daniel quali sono le qualità che condivide con l’eroe lo scolaro occhialuto, lui risponde che devozione, fedelta’, curiosita’ e sostenere le idee in cui crede e la propensione di trovarsi nei guai con le cose che li accomunano di piu’. I suoi amici sono, come quelli di Harry, incredibilmente importanti e non hanno cambiato i loro atteggiamenti nei suoi confronti. Dan frequenta una scuola privata per solo ragazzi a Londra quando non riceve lezioni private sul set ed i suoi interessi sono ben diversificati. Fa il tifo per la squadra locale di calcio, Fulham, si prende cura dei suoi due cani: Binka e Nugget. Da merito a Chris Columbus per avergli infuso l’amore per i film, tra i quali nomina “Apollo 13” “Buon Compleanno Mr. Grape” “Moulin Rouge” “La parola ai giurati” tra i suoi favoriti. Ha sviluppato un amore per la musica classica punk (The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Pixies) e non e’ decisamente imbarazzato quando deve parlare dei suoi gruppi musicali e darne un giudizio. Ha molte cose che lo tengono occupato durante il suo tempo libero – si esercita con la chitarra, studia seriamente magia (ha il tocco magico per i trucchi con le carte), fa palestra e s’impegna a scrivere le sue storie. Durante questi ultimi anni Daniel ha fruttato in maniera benefica la sua fama e celebrita’ impegnandosi nella beneficenza. Nel maggio 2002, Dan ha contribuito ad un video che e’ progettato per autare gli artistici ad imparare a riconoscere le espressioni facciali. Nel marzo 2003, un ciuffo dei suoi capelli ed un autografo sono riusciti a raccogliere ben 750 sterline per l’associazione britannica Comic Relief, che aiuta aeree depresse del Regno Unito e nel mondo. Nel febbraio 2005, Dan ha autografato una maglietta di Hogwart che fu messa all’asta ed il ricavato di 500 sterline fu donato per le vittime dello Tsunami nel sud-est asiatico. Dan ha inoltre partecipato, dalla parte dell’acquirente, ad un asta che vedeva messo al bando la copia originale dell’albero genealogico di Sirius Black disegnato e scritto da J.K. Rowling. Dan si e’ aggiudicato il pezzo d’arte ed il ricavo e’ andato alla Book Aid International. Un’alta causa molto importante che Dan supporta e per la quale chiede aiuto ai suoi ammiratori, e’ al Demelza House Children’s Hospice in Kent, nel sud-est dell’Inghilterra [ Demelza House Children’s Hospital e’ un ospedale per la cura dei bambini affetti da malattie che limitano le normali attività quotidiane]. La richiesta di Dan ai suoi ammiratori una donazione per il Demelza House Children’s Hospital ha raggiunto cifre di oltre migliaia di sterline e questo aiuta a migliorare la qualita’ della vita di questi bambini affetti da malattie terminali. L’enorme successo della serie dei film di Potter non sembra impaurire il giovane attore. Ha dichiarato che non guarda mai le sue interpretazioni una volta che la premiere e’ finita, e per poter rimanere concentrato e con i piedi per terra, non fa neppure attenzione a quello che dicono i giornali di lui. Per il suo futuro Dan ha espresso l’interesse nella recitazione e nella direzione. Oramai un attore esperto, Dan e’ ben cosciente di cosa e’ importante nell’industria cinematografica! Dan ora lavora, ed ha lavorato, al fianco di meta’ dei migliori attori britannici, come Alan Rickman, Kenneth Branagh, Julie Walters, Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, Dame Maggie Smith ed il compianto Richard Harris. Quando gli viene chiesto con chi altri vorrebbe lavorare, Jake Gyllenhaal, Geoffrey Rush (che interpreto’ il papa’ di Dan ne “Il sarto di Panama”) e Robert Carlyle sono in cima alla sua lista. Il 27 Febbraio 2007 ha esordito in una commedia di Peter Shaffer “Equus” nel ruolo di Alan Strang, un ragazzo di stalla che ha una ossessione per in cavalli. Il ruolo ha generato un interesse pre-apertura non indifferente dato che Radcliffe appare nudo sul palcoscenico in una scena della commedia. Le critiche sono state tutte molto positive, i critici impressionati dalla profondita’ e dalle sfumature di Radcliffe in questa interpretazione atipica. Radcliffe ha firmato anche per un dramma televisivo “My Boy Jack” per stazione televisiva Britannica ITV nel ruolo di Jack Kipling. Le riprese sono fissate per il luglio 2007. All’eta’ di sedici anni, Radcliffe divenne il piu’ giovane, non appartenente alla famiglia reale, che abbia mai avuto il suo ritratto nella British National Gallery. Il 13 aprile 2006, il suo ritratto dipinto da Stuart Pearson Wright, fu rivelato come parte dell’inaugurazione al London Royal Theatre e in seguito spostato al National Portrait Gallery dove ora risiede. Radcliffe aveva quattordici anni al momento in cui il ritratto fu fatto.

Daniel Jacob Radcliffe was born on 23rd July 1989 in the London suburb of Fulham. From the tender age of five, Dan expressed an interest in acting, although his early experience was limited to playing a monkey in a school production. (Today, Dan’s perspective on his first role today is "I hope no one ever finds any pictures of that!"). He became officially involved in the acting profession "by accident". He had missed out on auditioning for a part in a television production of Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist - his parents didn't think it would be a very good idea - but he was destined to make his small screen debut as another of Dickens' famous titular characters: David Copperfield, starring alongside Maggie Smith and Bob Hoskins. The annual Christmas BBC period drama is very popular in the UK and this 1999 adaptation of the classic novel was particularly well received. Dan followed up his appearance in "David Copperfield" by taking a small part, to gain some experience, in the film "The Tailor of Panama" released in March 2001. He played Mark Pendel, the son of Harry and Louisa Pendel, who were played by Geoffrey Rush and Jamie Lee Curtis. While the filming was taking place, a major talent search was underway in the UK to find someone to portray a certain popular literary character. It was Dan's "charm and simplicity" that caught the eye of Chris Columbus and David Heyman whilst on the search for a young British actor to bring to life the lead character of what is arguably the modern literary world's most successful phenomenon: Harry Potter. Director Columbus had seen a tape of "David Copperfield" and had badgered his casting director into calling its young star in for an audition. However, Dan's understandably protective parents were reluctant to subject their son to any gruelling audition process only to have his hopes dashed and so the life-altering role was at first turned down. But serendipity smiled down on Dan one evening in a theatre: producer David Heyman and screenwriter Steve Kloves spotted him with his parents in the audience while watching the play 'Stones in his Pockets'. Heyman knew Dan's father through business connections and introduced himself to Dan during the interval. He then spent the second half of the play totally distracted by his potential Harry. The next morning, Heyman called Dan's parents to try to persuade them to change their minds about letting him audition and... discovered that they had already had the same idea! They agreed to an informal meeting between Dan and David Heyman and, once they were confident that he would be protected as much as possible from the media glare if offered the role, agreed that Dan should go for an audition. The casting of Dan, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson in the lead roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger was subsequently announced in August 2000. Importantly, Potter author Joanne (JK) Rowling gave Dan her seal of approval - when she saw Dan's screen test, she claimed that she felt that "it was like being reunited with [her] long-lost son": "Having seen Dan Radcliffe's screen test I don't think Chris Columbus could have found a better Harry... I think Dan nailed it, and I am really pleased." Production of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's (Sorcerer's) Stone" began in September 2000 and the worldwide interest in the film was unprecedented. It was released on 16th November 2001 and was praised widely for its faithful adaptation of Rowling's book, going on to become the second-highest grossing film of all time, behind "Titanic". Also praised widely was its young star ("... a wonderful Harry... young Radcliffe is perfect as Harry... seems to have been born to play the part...") who found himself on the cover of practically every entertainment magazine of the moment. Numerous TV appearances in the UK and US followed and curious audiences began to discover the boy behind the lightning-bolt scar. Fan sites began to spring up across the Internet. A star was born. Filming of the sequel, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", began a mere three days after the first film was released. Frequently described as "a lot darker, a lot scarier... and a lot funnier" than the first film, "Chamber of Secrets" was more of a straightforward action movie and received generally positive reviews when it was released on 15th November 2002. History repeated itself as the film smashed transatlantic box office records and it is currently the ninth-highest grossing film of all time. Those who worked with Dan on the film have lavished praise on him. Kenneth Branagh has spoken of his joy in working with such a well-balanced young cast. The special effects team were amazed by Dan’s ability to act convincingly opposite a ball on a stick in the scenes involving Dobby the House Elf, before the CGI creature was added. After the promotional whirl of the UK and US, Dan took a little time out from promoting the film to make his West End stage debut in November 2002 in "The Play What I Wrote", directed by Kenneth Branagh. The play, which is a tribute to former top British comedy duo Morecambe and Wise, has a different surprise guest every night and makes them perform a humorous sketch. Says Dan of his experiences: "It was great fun. I had never been on stage before so it was a little scary at first but it certainly gave me the desire to do more on stage." The majority of 2003 was taken up with the filming of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban". In preparation, new director Alfonso Cuaron had Dan, Rupert and Emma write essays on their characters, which Dan found useful. The third film was a special experience for Dan since one of his idols, Gary Oldman, was tapped to play the role of Sirius Black, the Prisoner of Azkaban. As always, Dan and his co-stars received praise from the director and producers for their work. "Prisoner of Azkaban" was praise from critics as the best Potter film yet, even though it was a darker gloomier film than the previous two. Even before the release of Prisoner of Azkaban, production had begun in the spring of 2004 on the next film, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” Directed by Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Mona Lisa Smile), this film promised to be the most exciting instalment yet. Since 'Goblet' was a highly action packed thriller that centers on an elaborate contest know as the Tri-Wizard Tournament, the physical requirements were much tougher this time around. For a scene taking place during the second task of the Tournament, Dan actually had to learn to scuba-dive and then act underwater. During the battle with the dragon, Dan’s stunts included a 50 foot drop off a rocky embankment. Aside from the action, there are also fresh acting opportunities for Dan as he endures a long feud with his best friend, seeks a date for the Yule Ball, learns to dance and faces his resurrected nemesis. The fourth movie in the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", released on 18 November 2005 was another rousing success with the young stars holding their own in scenes with some of the UK’s leading actors including Ralph Fiennes and Brendon Gleeson. The movie outperformed the 2nd and 3rd films in the series. Potter fans worldwide have long anticipated Harry’s first onscreen kiss in the fifth installment of the series, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," directed by David Yates, scheduled for release July 13th 2007. Dan surprised and delighted fans by accepting a part between Potter films in the screen adaptation of the Michael Noonan novel, December Boys, directed by Ron Hardy (The Sullivans). Dan plays the role of one of four orphaned boys in 1960’s Australia, competing for the attention of a possible adoptive family. Interest in the novel and in the film have exploded since Dan signed on for the role, his first outside the Harry Potter franchise since 2001. The movie was filmed in Australia from November 2005 to January 2006 to avoid conflict with the production of Order of the Phoenix which began shortly thereafter. December Boys is scheduled for release in December 2007 in the United States, Australia and the UK. Dan says that his life has changed surprisingly little since taking on the role of the world’s most famous boy wizard. When Dan himself is asked what qualities he shares with the bespectacled schoolboy hero, he states that loyalty, curiosity, standing up for himself and a propensity to land himself in trouble are the greatest similarities. His friends are, like Harry's, incredibly important and they have not changed their attitude towards him since stardom has struck. Dan attends an all-boys private school in London when not receiving private tutoring on set and he has diverse interests. He supports his local football (soccer) team, Fulham, and looks after his two dogs, Binka and Nugget. He has credited Chris Columbus with giving him a love of film, and counts ‘Apollo 13’, '12 Angry Men', ‘Moulin Rouge’ and 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' among his favourites. He has developed a love of classic punk music (The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Pixies) and he isn’t at all shy about sharing his opinions on any band. He has a lot to keep him occupied in his free time - practising the bass guitar, really studying magic (he's a dab hand at card tricks), working out and trying his hand at writing his own stories. Over the last several years, Dan has put his fame and influence to good use, quietly engaging in charity projects. In May 2002, Dan contributed to a video which is designed to help autistic people learn to recognise facial expressions. In March 2003, a lock of his hair and an autograph raised over £750 for the British charity Comic Relief, which benefits deprived areas in the UK and around the world. In February 2005, Dan’s autographed Hogwart’s Crew T-Shirt was auctioned by the Tsunami Celebrity Clothes Auction to raise over £500 for victims in Southeast Asia. Dan also participated on the buyer’s side of a recent charity auction by submitting the winning bid for a handwritten copy of the Sirius Black family tree donated by J.K. Rowling to Book Aid International. Another very worthwhile cause that he has chosen to support is Demelza House Children's Hospice in Kent, south-east England. Dan's request to fans that they make a donation to Demelza House has raised thousands of pounds to help improve the quality of life for terminally ill children. The enormous success of the Potter franchise doesn't seem to faze the young actor. He has stated that he never watches his performances once the premieres are over and, in order to stay focused and grounded, does not pay attention to his own press. In the long term, Dan has expressed an interest in acting and directing. As an experienced actor, Dan is well aware of what’s important in the film industry! Dan has now worked alongside half of Britain's A-List actors, such as Alan Rickman, Kenneth Branagh, Julie Walters, Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, Dame Maggie Smith and the late, great Richard Harris. When asked who else he would like to work with, Jake Gyllenhaal, Geoffrey Rush (who played Dan’s father in "The Tailor of Panama") and Robert Carlyle are at the top of the list. He opened on 27 February 2007 in a revival of Peter Shaffer's play “Equus” as Alan Strang, a stable boyw ho has an obsession with horses. The role generated significant pre-opening media interest, as Radcliffe appears nude in one scene in the play. Reviewers were deeply impressed by the nuance and depth of Radcliffe's against-type performance. Radcliffe is additionally signed on for the ITV drama My Boy Jack as Jack Kipling, son of author Rudyard Kipling. Filming is scheduled for July 2007. At the age of sixteen, Radcliffe became the youngest non-royal ever to have an individual portrait in Britain's National Portrait Gallery. On 13th April 2006, his portrait, drawn by Stuart Pearson Wright, was unveiled as part of a new exhibition opening at London's Royal National Theatre, then moved to the National Portrait Gallery where it resides. Radcliffe was fourteen at the time of the portrait's creation.
