Emily Jenkins (Renée Zellweger) è un’assistente sociale che crede di aver visto di tutto nel suo lavoro, fino a quando incontra una problematica bambina di 10 anni, Lilith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland). Lavorando al suo caso, Emily si rende conto che Lilith non è solo una bambina vittima di maltrattamenti, ma che i suoi genitori tentano addirittura di ucciderla. Emily decide allora di farsi dare in affidamento la piccola fino a quando non troveranno una famiglia adottiva pronta ad accoglierla. Ma Lilith non è esattamente ciò che sembra e il peggio deve ancora arrivare e i problemi sono tutt’altro che finiti…

“Case 39” is a horror film starring Renée Zellweger as family services social worker Emily Jenkins. Emily thinks she has seen it all until she meets her newest, most mysterious case, troubled 10-year old Lilith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland). Emily’s worst fears are confirmed when the parents try to kill Lilith, their only daughter. Emily saves her and decides to take her in herself until the right foster family comes along.

Then the real horror begins...
