New Robert Zemeckis Movie Gets November Release Date. Steve Carell is set to star in the story about a man who turns to his imagination to cope with a trauma

30/04/2017 - Universal has slotted a release date for the newest movie from filmmaker Robert Zemeckis. The studio, which is making the movie with DreamWorks Pictures, has penciled in a Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, date for the untitled visual-effects-filled drama that will star Steve Carell.

The project, which is slated to begin filming this fall, is based on 2010 documentary Marwencol, which tells the unique story of Mark Hogancamp and the way he coped with the severe memory loss he suffered after he was attacked and beaten by a group of teenagers. Hogancamp spent nine days in a coma and when he re-emerged, had no memory of his previous life. As a form of therapy, he began building a one-sixth scale model of a World War II-era Belgian village in his backyard, replete with figures made in the image of him and his friends.

Universal describes the project as a "true story of one broken man's fight as he discovers how artistic imagination can restore the human spirit". The script was written by Caroline Thompson and Zemeckis, with Zemeckis producing with Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke via their Universal-based ImageMovers banner.  

Zemeckis, who directed movies ranging from Romancing the Stone and the Back to the Future trilogy to Forest Gump and Cast Away, last directed the Brad Pitt thriller Allied.
