Roma Film Fest 2009 - PER MERYL STREEP 'PREMIO ALLA CARRIERA' E FILM DI CHIUSURA

- (AGI) - Roma, 5 agosto - JULIE & JULIA, di NORA EPHRON con MERYL STREEP, chiudera' la quarta edizione del Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma in programma dal 15 al 23 ottobre 2009 sotto l'Alto Patronato del Presidente della Repubblica. L'attrice americana sara' ospite del Festival per presentare il film, fuori concorso nella Selezione Ufficiale, e per ritirare il Marc'Aurelio d'Oro alla Carriera, premio che negli scorsi anni e' stato assegnato ad altri grandi interpreti del cinema mondiale come SEAN CONNERY, SOPHIA LOREN e AL PACINO.
Inoltre MERYL STREEP sara' la protagonista di un incontro con il pubblico e la stampa nell'ambito della sezione 'L'altro Cinema - Extra'. Nella stessa sezione si terra' un altro incontro pubblico e stampa che coinvolgera' due fra i piu' importanti registi italiani, Gabriele Muccino e Giuseppe Tornatore, che si confronteranno nella formula del 'Duetto' come nelle precedenti edizioni hanno gia' fatto Marco Bellocchio e Bernardo Bertolucci, Toni Servillo e Carlo Verdone.
'JULIE & JULIA' to close Rome festival. Event unveils three Italian titles in competition
ROME - NORA EPHRON's JULIE & JULIA is among the first batch of pics revealed by the Rome Film Festival, where MERYL STREEP is being feted this year.
Sony's culinary biopic/dramedy, starring STREEP as chef Julia Child and AMY ADAMS as a latter-day acolyte, will close the Rome fest out-of-competition on Oct. 23.
JULIE & JULIA, which opens Stateside Aug. 7, will have its Italo preem in Rome's Auditorium theater, where STREEP will introduce the pic's gala screening.
STREEP, who as previously announced will be honored with the Eternal City extravaganza's Golden Marcus Aurelius Acting Award, is also booked for an onstage Q&A sesh about her career, similar to those held by previous Aurelius nod recipients, SEAN CONNERY, SOPHIA LOREN and AL PACINO.
The Rome Fest also announced three Italian titles in its competition. Vying for Rome's top nod will be Sicilian costumer Viola di mare, by Donatella Majorca; Alza la testa, a boxing drama by hot young helmer Alessandro Angelini ("Salty Air"), toplining Sergio Castellitto; and World War II resistance drama L'uomo che verrà by Giorgio Diritti, starring Maya Sansa and Alba Rohrwacher.
Milos Forman, as previously announced, will be heading the main jury.
Meanwhile, Rome's Extra section, comprising cutting-edge pics and special events, is breaking out a sub-section titled Earthquakes, dedicated to docus about the deadly earthquake that struck Italy's Abruzzo region in April.
Extra will also feature an onstage conversation between helmers Giuseppe Tornatore and Gabriele Muccino, who are probably the best-known Italo helmers outside national confines, among those of the younger generation.
The fourth edition of the Rome Fest will run Oct. 15-23.
