Jake Gyllenhaal Joining Ryan Reynolds Skydance's Sci-Fi Film 'Life'
11/03/2016
- Jake Gyllenhaal will star in Life, Skydance’s sci-fi project that is being directed by Daniel Espinosa. Ryan Reynolds was to have starred in the pic opposite Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation breakout Rebecca Ferguson, but the Deadpool star has a conflict with his newest movie, the action thriller Hitman’s Bodyguard. Instead, Reynolds will take a supporting role. But insiders say the roll call of the movie is ensemble in nature. The movie centers on the crew of a space station that discovers a lifeform on Mars. But the entity proves to be not only intelligent but also dangerous. Gyllenhaal has the Tom Ford drama Nocturnal Animals, in which he stars opposite Amy Adams, opening this fall. He will also shoot Lionsgate’s Boston Marathon bombing drama Stronger, which he is also producing. Gyllenhaal, repped by WME and Bloom Hergott, next stars in Jean-Marc Vallee’s Demolition, which opens April 8. March 10, 1:10 p.m. Updated headline to reflect that Reynolds is not departing the movie but is taking a smaller role.
