- LONDRA - MEL GIBSON sarà onorato dall’’Irish Film & TV Academy’ con un Premio per il notevole contributo al mondo del cinema alla 5° cerimonia dell’’Annual Award’ il 17 febbraio.
GIBSON sarà a ricevere il Premio al ‘Gaiety Theater’ di Dublino. La menzione d’onore sottolinea le sue radici irlandesi – sua madre era irlandese, così come lo era il suo bisnonno paterno.
Egli ha anche girato il suo BRAVEHART, vincitore del Premio Oscar in Irlanda, anche se il set del film era locato in Scozia.
Aine Moriarty, produttore esecutivo dell’IFTA, ha dichiarato: “La sua guida, la sua visione e determinazione hanno ispirato molti giovani registi irlandesi per oltre tre decadi”.
IRISH PAY TRIBUTE TO MEL GIBSON. ACADEMY TO HAND FILMAKER AWARD
LONDON — MEL GIBSON will be honored by the Irish Film & TV Academy with a prize for outstanding contribution to world cinema at IFTA’s fifth annual award ceremony Feb. 17.
GIBSON will be on hand to accept the award at Dublin’s ‘Gaiety Theater’. The citation stresses his Irish roots — his mother was Irish, as was his paternal great-grandfather.
He also shot his Oscar-winning Braveheart in Ireland, even though the film was set in Scotland.
Aine Moriarty, chief exec of IFTA, said, "His drive, vision and determination have inspired so many young Irish filmmakers over the past three decades."
