'DGA (DIRECTORS GUILD OF AMERICA)' ANNUNCIA LE NOMINATION DEI FILM. Tra i nominati FINCHER, HOOPER e RUSSELL / DGA ANNOUNCES FILM NOMINEES. FINCHER, HOOPER, RUSSELL AMONG NOMS
10/01/2011
- The Directors Guild of America's NOMINEES for its top feature award are DARREN ARONOFSKY for BLACK SWAN, DAVID FINCHER for THE SOCIAL NETWORK, TOM HOOPER for THE KING'S SPEECH, CHRISTOPHER NOLAN for INCEPTION and DAVID O. RUSSELL for THE FIGHTER.
The DGA made the announcement Monday. The award will be presented Jan. 29 in ceremonies at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood and Highland.
It was the first DGA feature nomination for Aronofsky, Hooper and Russell. Fincher was previously nominated for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and Nolan for "The Dark Knight" and for "Memento."
"2011 marks the 75th anniversary of the DGA, making the celebration of this year's five nominees especially meaningful," said DGA president Taylor Hackford. "Their inspired films radiate the passion and unique vision of each of these filmmakers, who are about to become part of our Guild's rich history. My sincerest congratulations to all five nominees."
The DGA award is viewed as a reliable predictor of the Academy Award for best director since the same director has won both in all but six years since 1948, including last year, when Kathryn Bigelow won both trophies for "The Hurt Locker."
The DGA nominations tend to parallel closely those by the Academy's best director. In last year's nominations, the five directors were the same with Bigelow, James Cameron for "Avatar," Lee Daniels for "Precious," Jason Reitman for "Up in the Air" and Quentin Tarantino for "Inglourious Basterds."
The directors branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has about 6% of the total membership of 5,777. Oscar noms will be announced Jan. 25.
The DGA will announce its TV nominees Tuesday and its documentary nods on Wednesday.
