Shan He Gu Ren. If the title were to be translated, it would be "Old friends are like the mountain and river." In short, immutable. But the passing of time can alter the rock and Jia Zhang-Ke, in Competion for the fourth time, is witness to this.

With five films presented in competition to his name, including Il Divo which landed the 2008 Jury Prize, Paolo Sorrentino is no Cannes novice. For this 68th Festival, following on from La Grande Bellezza two years ago, the Italian film-maker has again set his sights on the Palme d'or with a feature film that achieved the extraordinary feat of bringing together Harvey Keitel, Michael Caine and Jane Fonda in a mountain spa hotel.

At the age of just 33, Tahar Rahim is considered one of the best French actors of his generation. The film Un Prophète (A Prophet), which first brought him into the public eye in 2009, went on to win the Grand Prix du Jury at Cannes. Since then, his already distinguished career has been further burnished with each new appearance. This year the actor is a member of the Jury for the category "Un Certain Regard", with Isabella Rossellini as president. A new role for this actor who has won two French César awards. We interview him.

This evening, Cannes Classics offers you a chance to rediscover Les Yeux Brûlés, a film commissioned in 1986 that mixes archive documents and film footage from the life and work of war reporters... A woman comes to Roissy in search of a military canteen, intending to recover the personal effects and photographs of Jean Péraud – a photographic reporter killed in Diên Bien Phu. Péraud's former comrades are there and strike up a conversation with a woman. As the socontinues, she raises questions about the place of war reporters and photographers. Are they victims, fighters or mere messengers? What risks do they take in order to bear witness?

This is the first selection and first feature film for the 36-year-old director, who is also the first Ethiopian filmmaker to be selected at Cannes. He tells us the story of Ephraim, a young boy aged 9 sent by his father to live with distant relatives in the mountains. A story that comes to life in his home country.

The third feature film by South Korean director Shin Su-Won, Madonna is inspired by Edvard Munch's work of the same name. It's a blurred and murky reflection, like the face of the nurse Hye-rim at the beginning of this new opus.

UN CERTAIN REGARD - Je suis un soldat (I am a Soldier), meeting with Laurent Larivière

This is a first time in Cannes for director Laurent Larivière who is in the running this year for the Caméra d’or. With several shorts behind him, Je suis un Soldat (I am a Soldier) is his first feature film. In it he brings together the actors Jean-Hugues Anglade and Louise Bourgoin, in a story about the search for identity and the role we can play in the world. The director talks to us about his influences and the shoot.
