"Riconosciuto come il più importante interprete shakespeariano della sua epoca, Sir Kenneth (Charles) Branagh nasce in Irlanda del Nord da una famiglia di operai che, a seguito delle crescenti tensioni che cominciano ad affliggere l'Ulster, nel 1969 si trasferisce a aReading, in Inghilterra. Kenneth scopre a 15 anni la passione per la recitazione e nel 1979 entra alla prestigiosa Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts di Londra. Nel 1983 si unisce alla Royal Shakespeare Company. Tre anni più tardi, nel 1986, fonda la Renaissance Theatre Company. I primi passi nel mondo del cinema avvengono con Henry V (1989), di cui è regista e protagonista. Negli anni successivi, per la Renaissance Films, firma la regia di Peter's Friends (1992), il cortometraggio candidato all'Oscar Swang Song (1992) e Much Ado About Nothing (1992).
Negli anni '90 lavora come attore per maestri come Robert Altman (The Gingerbread Man / Conflitto d'interessi, 1998) e Woody Allen (Celebrity, 1998), e dirige film di grande successo come Frankenstein (1994) e Hamlet (1996), che ottiene 4 nomination all'Oscar. Per la sua società Shakespeare Films ha diretto nel 2000 Love's Labour's Lost e, recentemente, As You Like It (2005)".

"Acclaimed as the greatest Shakespeare interpreter of his time, Kenneth (Charles) Branagh was born in Northern Ireland of working class parents. The family moved to Reading, England, following the increasing build-up of violence in Ulster in 1969. Kenneth became interested in theatre at the age of fifteen and in 1979 he joined the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. In 1983 he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. Three years later, in 1986, he founded the Renaissance Theatre Company. He stepped into the world of film in 1989 in the leading role of Henry V, which he also directed. In the following years, as director for Renaissance Films he produced Peter's Friends (1992), the short film Swang Song, which was an Academy Award candidate and Much Ado About Nothing (1992). In the 90s, he starred in productions by Robert Altman (the Gingerbread Man, 1998) e Woody Allen (Celebrity, 1998). He directed successful films such as Mary Shelley's Frankenstein in 1994 and Hamlet in 1996. The latter received four Academy Award Nominations. In 2000 he directed Love's Labour's Lost and As You Like It in 2005, both with his company Shakespeare Films".
