Tom Cruise's 'Mena' Movie Pushed to Fall 2017, Gets New Title. The Universal film is directed by Doug Liman.

- Universal is pushing back the release of Tom Cruise-starrer Mena from Jan. 6, 2017 to Sept. 29, 2017. The movie, directed by Doug Liman, is also getting a new title: American Made. The project reunites Liman and Cruise after making 2014's Edge of Tomorrow together. American Made stars Cruise as real-life American pilot and hustler Barry Seal, who ran drugs in the 1980s for cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar and was recruited by the CIA to run one of the biggest covert operations in history. (Cruise himself is a trained pilot.) The film is financed by Cross Creek Pictures, with Universal handling distribution and marketing duties. Universal insiders say the fall corridor, which is primetime for adult dramas, is a better fit for American Made.
