- BLOOD FATHER TRAILER
"For those that don’t know me, my name is John Link, and I’m a real success story". On Sunday, Icon Australia released the official trailer for Blood Father, an action thriller directed by French filmmaker Jean-François Richet (Mesrine), starring Mel Gibson and Erin Moriarty.
The trailer follows Link (Gibson), a troubled tattoo artist and former convict who has all but given up searching for his missing daughter (Moriarty). When the troubled pair are reunited, all hell breaks loose. Link is forced to break parole to protect his newly returned daughter from violent drug dealers who are pursuing her for unknown reasons. Blood Father appears to be the intersection of Taken and No Country for Old Men, as Gibson channels his inner Liam Neeson to protect his daughter from criminals in the Southwest. Gibson's Link wields a gun in just about every automobile that exists, from a trailer to a sedan to the former Hell's Angel's weighty return to a motorcycle.
The novel was written and adapted for the big screen by Peter Craig, who also wrote The Town. Also on board are co-stars Diego Luna (Elysium), William H. Macy (Shameless), Thomas Mann (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) and Elisabeth Rohm (Joy). Blood Father is slated for release Aug. 25. Watch the trailer above.
