- JANE WYMAN, l’attrice Hollywoodiana, vincitrice dell’Oscar che era stata la prima moglie di Ronald Reagan e che fu la protagonista negli anni 80 della serie televisiva “Falcon Crest” e’ morta lunedì all’eta’ di 93 anni. Wyman, che aveva sposato il suo collega attore e futuro presidente degli U.S.A. nel 1940, per poi divorziare nel 1948, e’ morta nella sua casa di Rancho Mirage, California (U.S.A.) ha annunciato William Morton, il portavoce della Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuari. Wyman aveva dato una serie di interpretazioni nominate per l’Oscar nei panni di protagonista, iniziando dal suo ruolo, opposta a Gregory Peck nel film “Il cucciolo”. Vinse un Oscar nel 1948 per il suo ruolo di adolescente sordomuta nel film “Johnny Blinda”. Le altre due nomination per l’Oscar arrivarono per i film “Piu’ Forte dell’amore” e “Magnifica ossessione” (1954). Wyman aveva anche iniziato la sua carriera televisiva negli anni 50 presentando un’antologia drammatica intitolata “The Jane Wyman Theatre”. Ma divenne famosa agli spettatori delle generazioni successive come la severa, patriarca Angela Channing nel melodramma distribuito dalla CBS “Falcon Crest”. JANE WYMAN, the Oscar-winning Hollywood actress who was Ronald Reagan’s first wife and went on to star on the popular 1980s television drama “Falcon Crest”, died Monday at age 93. Wyman, who married fellow actor and future U.S. President Reagan in 1940, but divorced him in 1948, died at her home in Rancho Mirage, California, said William Morton, a spokesman for Forrest Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary. Wyman gave a string of Oscar-nominated performances as a leading lady, beginning with “The Yearling” opposite Gregory Peck in 1946. she won the Oscar for her 1948 role as a teenage deaf-mute raped in “Johnny Belinda”. Her two other Oscar nominations came for the “Blue Veil” (1951) and “Magnificent Obsession” (1954). Wyman also began a television career in the 1950s, hosting the drama anthology series “The Jane Wyman Theatre”. But she became best known to a later generation of viewers as the tough, empire-building matriarch Angela Channing in the CBS melodrama “Falcon Crest”. Wyman and Reagan had a daughter, Maureen, who died in 2001, and adopted a son, Michael, who became a conservative radio host.
