After 30 years John Travolta is back in a musical, and definitely in a new set of clothes. This time Travolta’s character is a very big mom named Edna Turnblad, a sweet lady of the 60s. It’s 1962 in Baltimore and you, that you are sitting in the movie theatre are hit by the sound, the beat and rhythm of the most amazing musical after “Grease”. Yes! The big era of musical is back on the silver screen with this new version of “Hairspray” and Travolta is among the cast. He’s incredible with his foam, curvy female suite, he still got it after all this years and this movie is a mile stone because is seems that Travolta is giving the baton to the new John Travolta of this generation: Zac Efron, the new star born thanks to a Disney musical, very popular among the girls of all ages. “Hairspray”

is the perfect result of a well balance addition : “Grease” + “West Side Story”. “Hairspray” is not just a musical, it has its own moral, its own message to carry to the audience and this makes it the perfect mix for a big success. The cast is an all star. All of them with a singing, dancing career on the shoulders besides the brand new star Nikki Blonsky (Tracy Turnblad ) who’s introduced thanks to this movie and she is going to have an amazing career as singer, she has a strong, crystal clear voice that one few can have and she has her role down to perfection. Watching Christopher Walken (Wilbur Turnblad) plays husband to Travolta’s character you can just imagine the fun they had shooting those scene, specially the wonderful duet “(You Are) Timeless To Me” where the dance together and we can appreciate the grace and professionalism of both.
